Rain Shadow Ranch

Rain Shadow Ranch is a six-acre specialty flower farm tucked into the hollows of south Port Orchard, Washington.

What began with growing flowers has slowly grown into something bigger: a place to shop locally, gather seasonally, take photos, pick flowers, and experience a little bit of farm life here in Kitsap County.

We’re still growing—literally and figuratively. Some experiences are offered regularly, while others happen on select dates throughout the season.

A Working Farm

Rain Shadow Ranch is first and foremost an active farm.

Flowers and crops are planted, irrigated, harvested and maintained throughout the growing season, and tractors, equipment, uneven ground, irrigation lines and working areas are all part of the landscape.

Because of that, access beyond the Bloom Stand is available only during scheduled experiences, appointments and events.

We appreciate visitors helping us protect the flowers, fields and farm while they’re here.

Flowers are the heart

Our fields produce specialty cut flowers for our Bloom Stand, DIY Bulk Blooms, weddings and events, local florists, designers and wholesale customers throughout the South Sound and Kitsap Peninsula.

Depending on the season, you’ll find dahlias, sunflowers, hydrangeas, cosmos, statice, celosia, specialty fillers, foliage and plenty of varieties we probably planted simply because we couldn’t resist them.

At The Farm FAQ

Rain Shadow Ranch is an active agricultural farm where crops are planted, maintained, and harvested throughout the growing season. To protect our farm, visitors, and plants, we have established guidelines for visiting the property, attending events, and participating in farm activities.

Farm Visitor Policies

  • Visit our roadside Bloom Stand every Saturday and Sunday between 10am to 2pm from April to October from .

    Our field is available for scheduled U-picks, workshops, and special events.

  • We are not organic certified, but do practice environmentally-friendly, sustainable farming, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), organic liquid seaweed and kelp fertilizer, and compost teas.

  • If you are working with a photographer, we would be happy to accommodate photos in the flower field. Please have your photographer reserve a time on our Photography Sessions page. 

  • Absolutely! Hours for our Bloom Stand can vary throughout the season, but if you want to order a bouquet we'd be more than happy to put something together for you. Browse our bouquet selections here.

What’s Growing in the Field

Over 50 types of spring to fall annuals are grown at Rain Shadow Ranch. We focus on varieties that are suited to the temperate PNW climate, but also dabble in a few Mediterranean and hot climate flowers.

Spring

Ranunculus, anemone, snapdragons, stock, narcissus, and tulips

Fall

Wheat, autumn foliage, corn, tomatoes, peppers, marigold, and most of the summer flower varieties

Summer

Dahlias, sunflowers, zinnias, hydrangea, statice, strawflower, ageratum, cosmos, and yarrow

Herbs

Sage, Rosemary, Pacific Bay, Basil, Parsley, Dill, Cilantro
